Child Abuse Prevention Month

Pinwheels for Prevention

Everyone has a role to play in preventing child abuse and supporting families. You can get involved by planting pinwheel gardens in a public place, making your own pinwheels, coloring pinwheels with children, displaying pinwheels at home and work, attending local events, and spreading the word about child abuse prevention.

For more information on pinwheels and on how to order them, please visit the Pinwheels for Prevention page.

PCAV is proud to partner with Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden every year to provide a pinwheel garden along the lake in Lewis Ginter’s Children Garden.  The 4,000+ pinwheels planted by community volunteers represent the number of children served by Healthy Families Virginia, a program managed by PCAV.

Blue RibbonThe Blue Ribbon Campaign

In Virginia, the blue ribbon is also a symbol of the need for everyone to be the best they can be when it comes to the wellbeing of children. The blue ribbon campaign is also a memorial to children who have been touched by abuse and neglect. PCAV’s blue ribbon campaign sends a positive message, through phrases such as “Be a blue ribbon family.” or “Make yours a blue ribbon community.”

Prevention Month Partners

Spreading the wording about positive parenting in a manner that helps prevent child abuse and neglect requires the support of many. PCAV is grateful for the following individuals, media partners and sponsors for their continuous support.

If your company or organization is interested in partnering with PCAV during Child Abuse Prevention Month, please contact Ashlee Roberts at aroberts@pcav.org or (804) 359-6166, ext. 304.
